A New Life, A New Home

Rej and Oneal ARE married

My second test hair and make-up session!

Today Oneal and I went to a small parlor on Sikatuna Road called Alter Ego. Beng introduced us to her friend’s suki’ng bakla, Pinky, so we could try his hair and make-up.

Things he did differently (from my first test HMU):

1. Pinky used curlers on my hair instead of a curling iron.

2. My color looked more natural: browns, bronzes, instead of pinks and beiges.

I’ll post the pictures soon!

UPDATE: Photos are up!

Flowers for you! Er, for the church.

I really don’t know anything about flowers. All I know is I don’t like roses, because they’re such a cliche; tulips, because they really don’t look pretty to me, and are ridiculously expensive; and tiger lilies, because Mom used to put them in the house years ago, and their scent gives me headaches.

So when we started checking out florists, I had to ask the names of the flowers that looked pretty, and we had to write them down. So by the time we were meeting with florists and talking about packages and options and such, we had a list of flowers we liked! Yay!

Unfortunately, Fernwood is rather strict about florists for the chapel, and we can only hire accredited florists: Flowers of May, 15-58 Flowers and Styles, and Scenta Flowers. We met with account execs from all three, just to see what they could offer, and which one we were most comfortable with. After meeting all three, we decided on 15-58.

So this evening we met with their AE, Rina, in Gateway, signed the contract, and paid the reservation fee. Yay flowers!

We’re getting calla lilies, mums, and aster. As for the arrangement, you’ll see it on the big day! :D

My first test hair and make-up session!

Ingrid has been doing Jovans hair and make-up since high school!

Ingrid has been doing Jovan's hair and make-up since high school!

One of the many suppliers we’ll need on the big day: hair and make-up! Shey and Jovan each recommended an artist. I tried Jovan’s recommendation yesterday: her suki’ng bakla, Ingrid, who owns a parlor in Marikina near Jovan’s house. It went pretty well!

Shangri-La, we choose you!

Yes, we’ve finally selected a caterer. Amen! We went to a food-tasting at Shangri-La restaurant on West Ave. last month with Paul and Dante, and it was pretty good. We like the food, and they can serve it lauriat-style, with no extra cost! Yay.

So tonight, we’re going to the restaurant to pay the reservation fee and discuss the terms for the contract. Yay!

Stay tuned for more details

the wed-site or wed-blog (yes, those are actual terms used) is up and running, we’ve updated some of the pages with details about us. we’ll be posting more information about our wedding plans right here, so keep checking back for more news.
for the past few months we’ve been attending bridal fairs in different places, food tasting by different caterers, we’ve also checked out most of the recommended event venues around Metro Manila, we have our preferred suppliers & places but we also want to get our families opinion, as well as their support for our decisions.

as you probably have guessed, we will be having a Star Wars themed wedding, which means its not just the bride & groom who will be in costume, the entourage will also have costumes appropriate to the ceremony. everything will be tasteful and done up to 501st Legion standards, and that means it will be movie-quality if not screen-accurate. NO we will not be wearing our armor to the wedding.

some good friends have already agreed to help with parts of the ceremony, the reception & the preparations, thank you so much, we will post more information on who are going to be involved soon, this is the reason why we are allocating more than a year for preparations. its not going to be easy, but it will definitely be memorable.
