more details to follow
Update from Rej, 2008/11/19: This is the story of how we met. I joined Star Wars Philippines in 2003. Having been a Star Wars fan all my life, it was awesome to finally meet other fans who were also Filipinos, and I was really excited about making new friends. So I was reading the messages on the Yahoo! Groups mailing list, and randomly saying hello over Yahoo! Messenger to people who were indicated as online. One of those people was Oneal.
I don’t remember the details now, but he says we were chatting for about ten hours that entire day, from morning till evening. He’d go off to a meeting, or I’d leave my workstation, and we’d resume chatting as soon as we got back to our respective PCs.
I don’t even remember what we talked about, but it must have been interesting or else he wouldn’t have offered to pick me up and drive me home. It was raining or something, and I had to kill time in the office before I could go out to the LRT. So Oneal offered to pick me up and drive me home. I thought that was awfully sweet. And creepy. 😛
So instead we exchanged numbers, and I promised to text him when I got home. We ended up texting from the moment I logged off Y!M till I fell asleep.
And so on everyday, chatting and texting, until Friday, when we both had errands to run in Makati. We decided to meet up.
We met up at Music One. I got there first. I didn’t even know what he looked like! I just had a vague idea from some SWP pictures. But apparently he knew who I was, because he checked out my blog. So he arrived, we went to Coffee Bean, and he drove me home. Yes, to Antipolo.
It was not a very eventful first date. There were the usual getting-to-know-you questions and answers, denials and declarations about ourselves, etc. I wasn’t interested. But apparently he was. In fact, I wasn’t interested for the next five months! But even I couldn’t deny that it was always fun talking to him, and he always took care of me wherever we were, and he was always a gentleman, and he was intelligent and polite and funny and OMG HE LOVED STAR WARS. All my friends and even my mother kept insisting he was a great guy.
And then I cracked. Over time I had to admit I enjoyed spending time with him, and I missed him when he wasn’t there, and I loved the fact that with him I felt safe and loved, and the fact that he wouldn’t back down when I voiced my opinions was a great help too. So I caved, and we got together, on February 3, 2004. And on February 20, 2010, we’ll be together for life. May the Force be with us!
